Lisa Calkins – President and Co-Founder
As president of Amadeus, Lisa Calkins has created a distinctive model for value-added technology consulting leading to many positive, long-term client relationships. Lisa co-founded Amadeus in 1994 with the values that remain essential to the company today: Mutual respect for co-workers and technology solutions that achieve real-world business results.
Under Lisa’s leadership, Amadeus has evolved into one of the country’s leading software consulting companies by assisting clients with a wide range of technology, operational and marketing challenges beyond their immediate software development needs. This pragmatic approach has helped many successful entrepreneurs get their products to market quickly with a solid, extensible technology platform for sustained business growth. Lisa continues to refine the company’s best practices to meet the unique demands of entrepreneurial development projects.
Prior to Amadeus, Lisa was a senior project leader for many years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where she led an elite group of software architects brought in to tackle major clients’ most complex and challenging projects. In addition, Lisa was selected by senior management to chair a committee to promote leadership development and integrity at the global corporate level.
Lisa is a dedicated community leader and respected mentor to many colleagues and associates. She is a past president of the Colorado Federation of Business and Professional Women, a national, non-profit organization dedicated to helping women achieve economic self-sufficiency by advancing careers, building businesses and advocating workplace equity. Lisa also served two terms as president of the Boulder BPW, one of largest local business organizations in the country.
Lisa and her husband Rob are certified scuba diving instructors and enjoy diving together under exotic seas around the world. Lisa learned passion and creativity from her mother and competitiveness and kindness from her father. She brings those values to her leadership of Amadeus.
Lisa has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois.
John Basso, MCSE – Chief Operations Officer and Co-Founder
John Basso is a veteran business technology consultant who has been leading technical teams and implementing leading-edge software solutions for over 15 years. His dynamic spirit and enthusiasm have helped Amadeus build exceptionally close relationships with many long-term clients.
John thrives on solving technology challenges, developing new services and helping new companies succeed. Many Amadeus clients appreciate John’s creativity, perseverance and entrepreneurial nature, for which he credits his many relatives and their family businesses.
John’s demonstrated ability to manage complex software development programs has led to senior executive positions with several Amadeus clients from start-up through venture funding. As the Chief Technology Officer of PlanetOutdoors.com, John led the development and technical operations of a major ecommerce retailer.
At Circadence, a network communication and infrastructure company, he led corporate strategy, product marketing, advertising and research. John currently sits on the board of advisors of iSatori Global Technologies, where he helped establish key processes for sustained business growth. As the Chief Strategy Officer of iSatori, John managed the technology group and the design, development and implementation of an advanced technology platform.
In addition, John has extensive experience with venture capital funding and was a key contributor to equity investments deals for three different promising startup companies of over $20 million each.
Prior to Amadeus, John was a senior technology practice consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in Chicago, where he spent five years delivering enterprise solutions to Fortune 500 companies. John managed large-scale projects across the U.S. and Europe, developing technical architectures to link legacy and client server systems.
When not working on client projects, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Gina, and their 2 kids, running, hiking, scuba diving and snowboarding. John also volunteers for the FIRST Robotics Competition, helping high school science students compete at national championships.
John was named a “Forty Under 40 Business Leader” by the Denver Business Journal in 2005. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with Departmental Honors from Illinois State University.
Steve Loper, MCSD – Chief Technology Officer, Partner
Steve Loper is an accomplished software architect with deep expertise in the .NET Framework and SQL Server. Under Steve’s technical direction, Amadeus has achieved a track record of consistent success on hundreds of challenging custom software development projects. Steve is responsible for the continuous improvement of the company’s software development methodology, technical knowledge and client services.
Steve has served as the system architect and project leader for Amadeus’ most significant client projects. He was named a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for his leadership of the Ascriptus project, a medical transcription system that won first place in the “Microsoft XP Challenge” for its innovative technical approach.
In 2005 Steve completed a long-term engagement for CQG, a major provider of investment trading services and analytical software, where he led an internal team that overhauled the company’s global data network and achieved world-class performance benchmarks for real-time trading services.
Steve joined Amadeus in 1995 and became a partner in 2000. Prior to Amadeus, Steve held software development positions at Andersen Consulting and Motorola.
Steve received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Cum Laude, from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He is married with two boys and is active in their local Cub Scout pack. Outside of work, Steve enjoys hiking, biking and snowshoeing with his family.
Joseph Klida – Vice President of Development, Partner
As vice president of development, Joe Klida is responsible for managing the company’s growing software development services and internal systems infrastructure. With extensive experience developing many large-scale custom solutions, Joe brings a broad array of software skills, systems knowledge and deep experience managing challenging custom software development projects.
Joe manages the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s advanced software development methodology, as well as internal systems and tools used to ensure effective management of client projects, while building a scalable infrastructure that has kept pace with the company’s rapid growth.
Joe began his career at Amadeus in 1997 and became a partner in 2007. He has distinguished himself through significant contributions to many client projects, helping those clients achieve challenging business goals. Key projects have included developing mission-critical applications for anti-terrorism systems and law enforcement, as well as large-scale, advanced ecommerce platforms.
Joe has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
