Founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1994, Amadeus Consulting celebrated its 16 year anniversary this month.
Starting as a Web and Internet technologies company, Amadeus Consulting quickly expanded its services and abilities and has become a specialist in custom software solutions across all industry levels, and on a great range of platforms.

One example of the company's ability to grow and quickly assimilate new technologies is with mobile devices. Even though Amadeus Consulting first started developing mobile applications in 1997 (with the first versions of Windows CE), the company has been able to greatly expand its mobile application services with the surge of iPhone and Android apps. In fact, Amadeus Consulting was recently selected as Colorado's top mobile developer for its ability to provide enterprise level mobile applications, and for its depth of experience.
But the company's staple services are in more traditional systems technology, such as database solutions, larger .NET applications, and other technologies involving the Web and cloud-based applications. Amadeus Consulting excels at building integrated software solutions for companies that can build on existing software infrastructure in order to improve and modernize systems.
For example, Amadeus Consulting recently worked with B-Cycle - a Denver-based bike share program - that allows people to check out bikes from kiosks placed around the city. In this program, Amadeus Consulting integrated multiple technologies, including RFID tracking tags, customer-facing kiosk software using Microsoft Silverlight, back-end Web Services and Administration for users, and continual performance monitoring and system support. This project also integrated a GPS-enabled iPhoneTM app that helped users find the nearest B-Cycle stations and to access their account.
"Working with these types of clients has really shown how well we can bring lots of different technologies together into a very successful project," Calkins said. "From initial design, all the way through post-launch 24x7 support, we create custom software that businesses depend on to be successful, and we do it for all types of businesses in all types of industries. "
Amadeus Consulting has also expanded dramatically this year, increasing its staff by over 20 percent to 55 employees, up from 40 at the beginning of the year. This rapid expansion has been attributed to an increased need in updated and modern technology as companies pull out of the recession and begin to embrace newer and more efficient technologies, as well as an uptick in innovative entrepreneurs and technology startups in need of custom software assistance. Amadeus Consulting has also continued to expand its range of service abilities into many new areas, which has also contributed to its growth.
