Amadeus Consulting is proud to announce the completion of a successful partnership with students from University of Colorado's College of Engineering. The SINN or 'Sleep if not needed' project was a collaboration between CU's students, John Basso and several other Amadeus Consulting employees to tackle electricity waste through continued computer usage.
Sleep if not needed addresses the inability for employees to safely, securely and reliably turn their computers on and off from remote locations. Many employees, especially technical staff, leave their computers on 24 hours a day just in case they have to handle a critical issue after hours or on the weekend. The ability to leave a computer sleeping or off dramatically reduces the amount of electricity it uses. SINN allows companies to have the advantage of 24-hour access without the environmental or cost impact.
John Basso first approached the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and suggested the SINN project as a senior project idea for the Computer Sciences students. "Working with students gives us a great perspective on how to bring eco-friendly ideas into a new generation, and was a great resource for us to curb our electricity use."
Amadeus Consulting, as part of our BLAST! (Business Leaders in Action for Sustainability Today)! network and company-wide green initiatives, will offer SINN to the public on several open-source websites to give the public the opportunity to use this money and electricity-saving option.
