Amadeus Consulting is excited to unveil a new
Microsoft® Silverlight™ mini app on its website, called the Interactive Office Tour. The mini app allows visitors to digitally tour Amadeus Consulting's offices, interacting with objects and learning about the company along the way.
A Silverlight mini app is a small custom development application which can be embedded onto a website, or function as a stand-alone application, or be ported onto different devices and platforms, and is created using Microsoft's Silverlight development tools. Creating the application included wireframing, a process which designs the flow and layout of the application, prototyping and finally presenting a finished product. Many members of the team participated in order to bring all of the artistic elements together, including developers, photographers and graphic designers.
Visitors to the Amadeus Consulting website can use the app by clicking on the "View the Interactive Office Tour" button located on the home page. The app will work with any browser; however users may need to install the Silverlight plug-in, which can also be done through the site.
In addition to a site tour, the mini app also incorporates interactive features that let users learn more about the specific elements of Amadeus Consulting. Specifically, users can learn about the mobile CHaRM Center, which is part of Amadeus Consulting's recycling initiative. It teaches which types of items can be recycled, composted or salvaged, rather than turning everything into trash.
The Interactive Office Tour also takes advantage of Silverlight's deep-zoom feature, which allows users to zoom into images with very minimal reduction in quality. This feature stitches together different photos with a near-seamless transition, so as users zoom in and out, the picture quality remains consistent without slowing down the application. For example, users can view a wall of the many awards that Amadeus Consulting has won, and then quickly zoom into each one with enough quality to read them, as if the photo had been taken up close.
Overall the mini app was an experiment for the developers to work with some of the features of Silverlight, and a way to highlight Amadeus Consulting's unique culture with more than just words.
"The Interactive Office Tour mini app is a great way for people to see who we are," said Jay Millard, Vice President of Business Development. "Our business values include 'Doing the Right Thing' and 'Everything is Possible,' but those are meaningless if they are just words. This helps people see who we are, and how we have used them to build up a reputation of success."
