Chief executive officer Lisa Calkins of custom software development company Amadeus Consulting was named a finalist for the Denver Business Journal's 2011 Outstanding Women in Business Award.
The award recognizes Denver's most influential women in different industries who have achieved great success through leadership in business and in the community. Calkins was selected out of a large pool of nominees for the award. An awards luncheon will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011 to honor Calkins and other women business leaders, as well as announce the winner.
"This award is not only an accomplishment for me but for Amadeus Consulting as a whole. The colleagues I work with on a daily basis inspire me to lead with a clear vision and passion for what we all do as a company," said Lisa Calkins, chief executive officer of Amadeus Consulting.
Calkins' colleagues nominated her for her positive philosophy and innovative leadership practices. Her passion for her work led to the creation of Amadeus Consulting's Mobile Team: a tech-savvy group that has created more than 35 mobile applications across all major platforms, including iPhoneTM, AndroidTM and BlackBerry® devices. She is not only a business partner to Amadeus Consulting co- founder John Basso, but a dedicated community leader and respected mentor to many colleagues and associates.
In the past, Calkins served as the president of the non-profit organization Colorado Federation of Business and Professional Women and served two terms as president for the Boulder Business and Professional Women organization and the Colorado Association of Microsoft Certified Solution Providers.
