Amadeus Consulting's co-founder and chief information officer John Basso recently won the Boulder County Business Report's (BCBR) 2011 Eco-Heroes Award. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship throughout their organization and beyond.
Basso, described by his colleagues as a "sustainability innovator," wanted to minimize Amadeus Consulting's impact on the environment. His continued efforts have proven successful, as the custom software development company now only produces one bag of trash per week.
But that wasn't enough of an accomplishment for Basso. He expanded his sustainability knowledge and efforts by launching a program in 2009 called Business Leaders in Action for Sustainability Today (BLAST!). The community-based program has trained dozens of companies on simple and effective solutions to implementing eco-friendly initiatives throughout the work environment.
"We're honored to have such an eco-friendly, passionate colleague like John Basso at Amadeus Consulting," said Lisa Calkins, chief executive officer for Amadeus Consulting. "We are proud that he leads the way in sustainability initiatives within the company and in the business community."
Basso's genuine zeal for conservation has not only inspired change and action at Amadeus Consulting, but in the larger community as well. According to colleagues, he very much cares about the impact the individual footprint has on the world and believes that small steps towards conservation can have large effects on the world.
