Dan Cohen, owner of Apps for All, is an independent entrepreneur/social worker based out of Mineola, New York. His inspiration for Apps for All came from his own experiences, for which he felt an iPhoneTM application could serve a great need, and Amadeus Consulting is proud to be a part of the process.
Dan Cohen approached Amadeus Consulting because of our extensive iPhone and .NET experience as well as our ability to solve challenging problems. Dan had the inspirational idea for Healthful Apps, to create an administration application that would make it easier for people to find applications to assist them with their needs by retrieving application information focused on improving quality of life.
Leveraging tools Visual Studio, SQL Server 2005, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and the iPhone SDK, Amadeus Consulting built Healthful Apps, which created a unique user-experience for people with conditions including: Alzheimer's, autism and dialysis. Additionally, the admin application offers programs for mood lifting to assist caregivers and to maintain relaxation, memory and focus.
Healthful Apps aggregates the best applications the Apple® App Store has to offer for each of the listed specifications. For instance, the application for Caregivers presents tools for reference, news, note-taking and other tools that assist caregivers in their day-to-day activities. The Alzheimer's App gives patients games that address and stimulate memory. This aggregator and individual applications provides those with limited technological skills the ability to easily connect with quality products that assist them with their disabilities.
Our ability to overcome challenges allowed us to tackle the difficult task of accessing data in the Apple Apps Store for this project. This resulted in a first for Amadeus Consulting, as we integrated an iPhone application with a .NET Web application using both Objective C and C#. Using WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) as the middle-man communicator, Amadeus Consulting developers were able to incorporate real-time data between Apps for All (Admin Portal) and the App Store database. Our development team is particularly proud of the automated data retrieval from the App Store.
The project was successfully deployed in October 2009 and was launched on the App Store on January 5, 2010.
