CRUDE International is a venture that is based in Wyoming and Indonesia. Using custom software, the goal of the company is to increase the efficiency of the oil and gas industry. The company is a startup venture co-founded by Gary Roberts and Chuck Jeffery, entrepreneurs with valuable years of experience working on oil rigs.
In the oil industry, non productive time (NPT) tends to be one of the biggest challenges. In fact, NPT can take up to 32 percent of the time oil services companies spend drilling for oil and an outstanding amount of operating cost is required for rework. Nothing currently exists to monitor the oil industry and supply it with crucial business intelligence metrics to inform oil companies what they do and don't need.
CRUDE was founded with the idea of creating an evaluation system that would optimize the oil and gas industry thereby saving an enormous amount of money and time. CRUDE came to Amadeus Consulting after having done much research into our background. They were impressed by the years Amadeus Consulting has been in operation and learning of our successes with other clients, specifically our expertise in using OLAP to create complex reporting tools for medical group MGMA and utilities firm Davies Consulting.
Amadeus Consulting developed an evaluation tool that allows oil companies to customize each service line and all related activities by line. The tool allows oil companies to create customized audits for each product line, monitor assets and inventory and evaluate user competency and support services. Using a ranking system the tool finds shortages, helping reduce downtime and rework of oil drilling. Sometimes a company is over-scaling with too many employees or spreads its people too thinly. This tool can help eliminate inefficiencies in operating costs for these oil companies; even shaving off a small percentage of NPT can result in huge increases in profit. To make it even easier for the oil companies, industry experts create the evaluation and then it can be scaled so an industry expert isn't required to evaluate each and every situation.
Amadeus Consulting developed the evaluation system application in Windows Presentation Foundation, WPF, so it could be used on a rugged touch screen mobile device that can be used within the oil fields, while still being user friendly and highly durable. Though WPF can be a somewhat difficult technology, Amadeus Consulting used it to build the application for internationalization and the ability to be displayed in any language. Other challenges that were overcome in developing the application were that the touch screen look, feel and layout is different than a traditional application and we needed to make the touch screen clickable and larger than 44 pixels for people to touch. We also needed to allow for the numeric data to be entered without a keyboard.
In addition to custom software development Amadeus Consulting assisted CRUDE with strategic consulting to help Gary Roberts sell the idea of the Oil and Gas evaluation system to oil companies. Amadeus Consulting provided Gary with tools to effectively present the idea and continues to offer assistance throughout our partnership with CRUDE International.
