Lisa Calkins, CEO of custom application development company Amadeus Consulting is nominated as one of the most influential women in tech for 2011. The awards are put on by Fast Company, a magazine that is at the forefront of exciting emerging technology and innovation in growing companies.

The annual award is given to female power players in the technology industry who bring a unique brand thought leadership and proven success to technology companies in all sectors including: custom software development, consumer product, mobile application development, etc. The award recognizes that women face disadvantages in such a male-driven sector, and those who stand out have found ways to be power players.

True to the unique nature of Fast Company, award submissions were received in an unorthodox way. Fast Company requested that submissions be taken through verified comments, blog posts, tweets, videos or pictures all that contain the Twitter hash tag #wit11 for them to be able to find and compile. In the past, winners of this distinction have included: Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, Rashmi Sinha, co-founder and CEO of Slideshare among others.

Lisa Calkins has been a player in technology for over 20 years, having worked for Accenture as a software consultant before starting Amadeus Consulting with her business partner John Basso in 1994. Amadeus Consulting has grown almost every year in terms of revenue and company growth, and will break the company's revenue record this year.

Recently, Lisa has been acting as the Creative Director in the graphic design department, ensuring innovative ideas and solutions for clients, cross-training custom software developers and graphic designers, and ensuring that the creative team is at the forefront of new user experience design principles.

In addition, she recently launched her blog "Calkins on Creative," that is dedicated to the many facets of creative design in a client-based, custom application development company. Some of the topics that Lisa covers are: rich Internet application development, user experience design, and Microsoft Silverlight^TMconsulting.

On the launch of her blog, Lisa recently said, "It's been great for me to have an outlet to write down the software and creative experiences I have had over the years, and be able to develop them into ideas that can help people as they form their software consulting needs."

The winners of the award will be announced in Fast Company magazine in early 2011.
