Microsoft approached Magpie with Amadeus Consulting in collaboration to build a fully functionally proof-of-concept touch application for Windows 7 that consolidates communications into one "softphone" application.
The project required the integration of click-to-call, teleconferencing, visual voicemail, SMS and Instant Messaging, and a touch-screen compatible interface using Windows Presentation Foundation.
Microsoft needed to present the working application at the Mobile World Congress, the world's largest mobile trade show, which left Amadeus Consulting with an extremely tight deadline. The project had already been declined by other firms because they could not complete the project on time.
Amadeus Consulting has the mantra of "Everything is Possible" and immediately accepted the challenge and not only met the deadline, but created an extremely attractive end product that turned heads at the conference.
Amadeus Consulting developed a custom application using an Expression Blend user interface which supported the "softphone" application, called Meridia. It also leverages the best of the .NET Platform, as well as the application programming interface (API) and session initiation protocol (SIP) stack. Amadeus Consulting also organized the project so that many departments could work on it simultaneously which allowed the company to provide regular updates to Microsoft and ultimately complete the project within the strict deadline.
The project was presented at the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, as a proof-of-concept application that would enable the telecommunications industry to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU). The desktop application brings Microsoft to the forefront of high-quality user experience applications, and provides a revenue-generating channel for carriers.
Meridia provides users the ability to stay connected through its click-to-call interface, which also includes visual voicemail - a feature which translates voicemail into text, and the ability to send SMS and instant messages, organize and view your contacts by any set of parameters, conduct simple conference calling and see communication history. Meridia is also compatible with Windows Live Contacts.
Meridia is at the forefront of centralized communication by leveraging market information, trends and advanced technology. Brought to you by Microsoft and Magpie with Amadeus Consulting, Meridia makes the communication process simple, centralized and fun to use.
