Located in Englewood, Colorado, National Care Connection is a company of 15 dedicated to creating tools that give caregivers both public and private the means to deliver the best service to their patients. It is founded on the principle that implemented and developed strategies can improve the care given to customers by maintaining insight and consistency.
Specifically, National Care Connection offers industry experience, consulting services to determine successful strategies and information tools that host information to give clients practical solutions to improve care. One thing that sets National Care Connection apart is its extensive library of media (videos, lists, interactive guides) that aide care giving processes.
National Care Connection approached Amadeus Consulting with the need for a Web-based application that could host expert information and process management. Additionally it needed to keep track of information for two paradigms: 1. for care-giving organizations to share information on patients, and 2. for parents who have children with special needs. Additionally, the tool needed to match the library of information and best match it in an intelligent way.
The goal was to create a database to manage more comprehensive patient profiles in order to improve care. National Care Connection hoped to create a way for new users to acclimate themselves to patient histories and gain access to the documents and processes necessary to get them up-to-speed.
National Care Connection found a good match with Amadeus Consulting not just because of our proximity to its company but also because of our track record with new technology. In addition, we were able to finish the project in a limited time frame and within a specific budget.
Amadeus Consulting overcame timeframe obstacles and is particularly proud of the content matching system, survey tool and how we integrated those tools with the immense library of media. Moreover, tackling the levels of security and permissions presented Amadeus Consulting with a challenge that was ultimately beneficial knowledge to gain.
Amadeus Consulting was charged with creating a framework to allow users to act globally and locally with their information. Amadeus Consulting initially gave NCC the ability to have two main levels of user (Administrator and Basic User), but also the ability to create almost unlimited kinds of users, based on access to 15 features. Specifically what this means is that each user-level would have specific access to the features Caregiver 360 offers.
Based on our previous experience with Ascriptus Medical Software, we were able to use our unique knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) to create levels of security within the project. This allowed Amadeus Consulting to create a framework allowing users to act globally and locally with their information. The HIPAA compliance ensures that Amadeus Consulting adheres to processes and procedures specified by the act to guarantee security of information. Amadeus Consulting addressed this compliance by making recommendations on how to handle documents but also by encrypting information in the database. Encryption in the database gives only permissible users access to information.
Other features of the Caregiver 360 allow users the ability to upload flash movies, and a survey tool that recommends content based on search. For example, based on the dynamic and tailored survey system Amadeus Consulting built, users could gain access to content, advice and flash videos specifically for their needs. These tags would additionally and intuitively recommend other media that they might find helpful.
Amadeus Consulting successfully deployed Caregiver 360 to the client in May of 2008, and the client launched the Caregiver 360 in early 2009.
