WaiverWire was the brainchild of entrepreneurs Chris Nalley, Steve Zum Tobel and Roger Shaffer who are all passionate sports fans. Started in 2008 in Florida, WaiverWire is dedicated to creating sophisticated analytical tools. These tools help fantasy football league players build better teams using artificial intelligence in order to gain a competitive edge.
The WaiverWire team came to Amadeus Consulting to build an advanced Draft Tool. The company chose to work with Amadeus Consulting because it felt Amadeus Consulting not only understood its business model, but also had the technical capacity to develop the complex custom application solution. WaiverWire had previously worked with another developer who did not possess the technical ability that WaiverWire felt Amadeus Consulting could provide. Additionally, WaiverWire felt very comfortable with the Amadeus Consulting staff and enjoyed that we were also passionate about sports and Fantasy Football.
WaiverWire wanted Amadeus Consulting to fix some problems with its existing site, and help integrate the Draft Tool into the site smoothly. In the Draft Tool, WaiverWire wanted to develop a means for Fantasy Football players to have a competitive and statistical advantage over other players using historical data to help them select their team. The Draft Tool uses three years worth of player data and statistics in order to create consistent suggestions for users.
Powered by the Amadeus PlatformTM, the Draft Tool looks five rounds in the future to recommend the next selection a Fantasy Football player will make. The robust system pulls data from the WaiverWire website and can do 100,000 calculations in mere minutes to present the user with the best statistical data.
The complexity of the algorithms and incredibly large player data sets gave Amadeus Consulting a rewarding challenge. In order to ensure an excellent outcome, our developers carefully architected a system to encapsulate using object-oriented design, in order to break large project pieces into smaller easier-to-solve scenarios. The database itself has an enormous amount of player data cached for future use.
The Draft Tool features game statistics on every play for the last three years, mock draft capability, player recommendations and is completely customizable (scoring, players, teams and even prize structures).
WaiverWire was extremely pleased with the solution Amadeus Consulting delivered with the Draft Tool. Of the project, CEO Chris Nalley said, "Working with Amadeus Consulting gave us the chance to utilize its extremely extensive collective expertise and analytical intelligence to create our Draft Tool. The process was collaborative, flexible and extremely successful." The project was successfully deployed and Amadeus Consulting looks forward to enhancements and future projects with the WaiverWire team.
