XceedID, a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand and based in Golden, CO, is dedicated to the design, development and supply of advanced contactless radio frequency identification (RFID) products. XceedID pioneered development of multi-technology readers which combine traditional proximity and advanced contactless smart technology in one reader. XceedID products are sold through industry-leading access control manufacturers. XceedID wanted to create a new custom piece of portable hardware that would allow its clients to rapidly program and read RFID cards in the field. The goal was to alleviate the need for XceedID clients to have to order pre-programmed cards in advance, increasing client satisfaction and flexibility. In order to achieve this goal XceedID needed to hire a software development company to create a
custom software program that would make its new hardware operate efficiently.
XceedID chose Amadeus Consulting because its ability to tackle hardware integration projects as well as its expertise in RFID technology. Amadeus Consulting took XceedID's initial specifications and built a robust application that well exceeded the client's expectations. Amadeus Consulting built the application using Microsoft's® Enterprise Toolkit. The development team utilized
.NET,
C#,
Windows Presentation Foundation, and Visual Studio in building the program. The team also used Expression Blend to create the applications dynamic and visually appealing
User Interface (UI). The program then had to be integrated into the hardware and firmware created by XceedID as a human interface device (HID) via USB connection. As a company that prides itself on staying on the leading-edge of technology, Amadeus Consulting rose to the challenge to work with the HID in this manner, and built the software ahead of schedule which allowed XceedID the ability to test its hardware with the
newly developed software, a valuable time-savings for the company. The early completion of the project allowed XceedID to achieve an internal win as well as a project win. XceedID was pleased with the programs functionality and the user experience created, making this project a success for the company.
