iSatori Technologies is a leading scientifically-based nutritional supplements company. Their products, including popular consumer brands Energize® and Lean System 7®, are distributed by major retailers including Wal-Mart, Walgreens, GNC and Vitamin Shop. Product is also sold directly through several company-operated, branded web sites.

iSatori was founded in 2002 by veterans of the sports nutrition and fitness industry. As each new brand and product line was developed, the company created separate web properties for each using a variety of technologies including ASP and Java. Their new products received very positive market response, and the young company soon realized that it would be difficult to grow the business while supporting their multiple, disconnected web platforms. It also became clear that there was much work to be done creating a technology infrastructure to support all of their business operations and position the company for growth.

iSatori turned to Amadeus Consulting for our unique experience assisting start ups with their technology development strategy and moving business operations to a sustainable growth track. Amadeus developed detailed implementation plans for their internal IT systems and a single, high-volume ecommerce web platform.

Amadeus COO John Basso worked closely with iSatori’s executive team for over a year to help make their web properties more profitable. The company was operating separate ecommerce platforms for four major brands. John developed a plan to integrate their web properties and internal IT systems on a single platform using .NET, SQL Server and ISS. John standardized each platform and prepared the transition plan to ensure a seamless changeover to each new web site with virtually no interruption in service.

A custom shopping cart was integrated with each ecommerce site to provide dynamic branding running on a single code base. iSatori leveraged Amadeus’s .NET Core Components for database access and credit card integration, greatly reducing the total development cost and time.

John also assisted iSatori with the selection, implementation and customization of a new email campaign management solution; the move to a new data center to consolidate web hosting services for considerable savings; and evaluation and RFP process for other technology services including web design and development, email marketing, call center resources

John assisted with staffing, organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, hiring, strategic planning, and process improvements. During a two-year period, the company was able to grow its revenue by tenfold. John also assisted with the spin off of Nutros and Best Abs into a separate corporation, now ABSolution and Nutros.com LLC. John helped to negotiate the terms of separation and incorporation.

John’s expert consulting work helped the iSatori achieve several critical milestones:

• Simplification of maintenance, inventory and content management
• Significant improvements to system availability

John is now an advisor to the company’s Board of Advisors and is called on to review all major technology and strategy decisions.

Additional Amadeus technical staff provided extensive one-on-one training for .NET development methodology, SQL Server development and related tools. Amadeus worked on site developing software side by side and mentored internal staff providing instruction on .NET and SQL Server development methodologies.
